Rear axle shortening mk1 escort

Hi all just a quick one I have got 7.5 j rs 4 spokes on the rear of my escort and they stick out and would rub the arch if it was lower. Can I just put a ford anglia axle in there without any mods to bring the wheels in or do I just get my English axle narrowed thanks

look on ebay for a brisca stock car axles, there was someone selling them for about £90 to required width

I fitted a mk1 cortina axle under my mk1 escort. Just had to move the mounts.

Gives me plenty of room to run wide rims and disc rear.
