    Insurance

Does anyone know of a classic insurance that will insure drivers that are not 21?? Cuz im 18 and after a mk1 escort (please leave "why not have a fiat punto" style comments for later) i am trying to buy a 1100L 3dr but cant find one of them either! So any good classifieds would be welcome too. When the caer finallt does come i will leave some picks, i plan on replacing crank and rods with 1300 ones so they've got a longer throw, should make it bit more potent!

Thanks all and any info most welcome

    Re: Insurance

Classic insurance is very hard to get when under 21 - also bear in mind they will usually only cover a second car as a classic.

You could try Lancaster insurance, along with all the regulars (Greenlight, Flux, HIC, Graham Sykes etc).

I'm under 21 and have not managed to find any classic insurance. I think you'll find you have to bite the bullit and get normal insurance. I'm with Adrian Flux (only company that would even talk to me with an engine swap! )

    Re: Insurance

I hate saying this but when I was young enough to be running into this problem (I'm now 28) I got Max Power magazine and went through the insurance companies in the back of there, most ad's have a "special" code which shows you got their details from the magazine, so they prepare for some obscene hot hatch and you say classic escort and the price doesn't come out too bad, the only thing to do is shop around as much as you can. You will probably not be able to find anyone who will do classic insurance due to your age but some companies will let you do a limited milage system while helps you to get your premium down also if you ask to increase the excess on your policy from say 250 up to 500 this will also bring it all down in your favour. Also you can probably go to a 1.3 without any real difference in price and if you asked about going up to a 1.6 it may only be a small increase from what they quote you for the smaller engines. Its worth checking out what difference the engine size actually makes because it opens up your options massively on the cars out there which you can have.

Good Luck and make sure your not footing the phone bill as that can end up growing while your on hold for the 10,000th time in 3 calls.

Try HIC, they always seem to go the extra mile.
