I thought the tank fitting was 3/4 bsp, but Matt and his Dad reckoned it wasn't quite. The pitch was very slightly different.

Just been to my local nut and bolt man who tells me they are m12 with a 1.25 pitch (fine) he tested one with a bolt. He had none in stock

Just looked on e-bay and size seems to be wheel nuts but there are 1 or 2 normal ones so maybe it is right

The high priced ebay ones turned up and fitted m12 with a 1.25 pitch fit my AVO billie replacements and the original capri nuts fitted these aswell.

More than likely to be a plain m6 or m8 bolt....but i dont think i have ever used the standard captive nuts as im sure they all had bolts rusted in them so i chopped them off!

    They will be metric.

It might just be corrosion preventing the bolt going through them, have you tried running a tap down the thread to clean it up?

i had a problem a few weeks back finding long enough bolts to mount my lotus twink onto a clarke engine stand i think they were 3\8th unc but they needed to be at least 4 inches long after many days of running around with a bolt in my hand lawsons fastenings and fixings in southampton came up with the goods and they can supply any bolt size or length off the shelf if not they can get it within 24 hours they sorted me right out.
