I sold the Chevette and decided it was about time I bought a ute. It's a great machine, I just couldn't get any power down and I was starting in second gear.

You can hear it struggling to get the power down in the video, are they RWD?

Sounds great mate!! Still can't believe you have one of them over there It must turn some heads. What time did you run?

It's ace! My mate keeps telling me 'everyone loves the ute' , he said people are like owls when it goes past.
As for 1/4 mile time I am disappointed, I thought I would be in the twelves but I just couldn't get any power down 13.47 was the fastest I could do. I started the first two runs in first but it just spins the wheels so I was starting in second and it was pretty much doing the same. I even thought about starting in third gear!
I tried rolling it off the line to help keep traction but when you see the car in the next lane burning off you tend to want to catch him then it starts spinning the wheels again. Too much power and no weight over the rear end and shit tyres don't help. On the day I was offered Mark Higgins's slicks from his Subaru that he did the 128mph lap record for a car around the TT course with but he was running 18's and I have 19's so I'll have to get some decent tyres for next time.

Haha, with that set up you should be easy 12's. You will just need some drag radials next time. If you get another ute you should look at the Ford Xr6 Turbo ute, they are fun also. My wife has the XR6 Turbo sedan (Falcon) as her drive/family car.

12's next time!! My tyres are so crap I can't remember what brand they are that's how rubbish they are , but some sticker ones for next time will be needed and some weight in the back too.
No poxy 6 cylinders aloud in my garage these days, and you know you can't beat the sound of a V8 especially a supercharged one. I'd let an GTRXU1 202 in though.
I know the XR6 you can get good power but the modern Ford utes are ugly, give me a an XR to XY or XA to XF but not anything after that and it would have 8 cylinders. I use to live in W.A in the 80's so many good times hooning around in Aussie cars.
