Pinto 2.0 engine built in Argentina

Hello fellows, I have a question: Does the 2.0 engine build in Argentina have similitudes or interchangeabilities with the European 2.0 Pinto engine 205 Block ? As far as I know no, cause the Argentinian one is derived from the "Lima Pinto" being derated to 2.0 Please mates any info in regards is very much appreciated cause I have to take a decision in respect of repairing my 205 damaged engine or purchase an Argentinian engine, that is less expensive.

Any help will be very much appreciated

    Cheers,

    Eduardo

Yes I did, but there is global information.

I thought that here I could find some more specific info, especially about interchangeabillity of parts between both engines

Cheers and hope to have some info about

What alladdin is asking can you get us some pictures of your engine as that may help with finding out more about the engine. From what i have read on the internet i think the lima pinto engine is based on a us 2.4l engine and totally different to the europian/uk pinto engine.

Alright, I will try. But my engine is a Pinto 205 block purchased in UK through this forum. I has twin 45/45 webers, big valves, cam BP 285, forged pistons, and now it is very damaged, ( in one piston valves got released, piston broke, head broke, and block too). Big damage huh. Now, to import all those parts from UK, including freight and import duties and taxes, come to be very expensive. So I am trying to compare costs in this respect.

So any help to help me to find my way in this respect will be very much appreciated

Cheers and wait your kind opinions

from what i can see the Argentinian TC1 does indeed have the early European 2.0 ohc (early version - 205 was later but similar)
in uk it was the mk3 cortina.

alladdin, this the one I found. Check the engine, the carb is a double throat Caresa 36/36 Solex replica.

    I hope it helps too

Re: Pinto 2.0 engine built in Argentina

Thanks mates for your info. As I have be informed in Wikipedia, they are different engines. The Argentinian 2.0 Taunus have an engine derived from the "Lima Pino" derated to 2.0 cc. There are also in some models of Taunus the "Lima Pinto" on its original 2.3 version. None of them have parts interchangeable with the European/UK Pinto, thus I have to forget using parts from them to repair my damaged 205 block Pinto.

Yes I can purchase a complete 2.0 Argentinian Pinto and replace my UK Pinto one. They fit perfectly in my 5 speed gearbox Type 9

    Cheers, Eduardo
