    Escort mk2 door hinges

The doors on both sides of my mk2 need lifting in order for them to close correctly. I've done some reading on the site and others and it's mentioned that I need to replace the door pins. Is this correct? I've read that it needs a specialist tool, but how much of a pain is the job of knocking them out?

You can buy a pin removal tool for these, there a bit cheap and nasty but should do the job. Make sure you soak the pins in release oil for about a week before it will help with the removal. A bit of heat may also be required. Some just slide out others can be a right arse.

If the doors have just dropped, they can be carefully lifted back - the 2-door doors are longer than the 4-door and a fair bit heavier.
Assuming it is a 2-door you are talking about!

I can feel movement in the hinge, so that's why I'm assuming the pins need replacing. They look as though each end of the pin has been hammered over so it'll probably need grinding off to tap it out.
