    Water circulation

    Well guys, lookin for some advise.. After putting Xe into mk2, it has a new thermostat, new fan switch and new alloy rad and the fan won't kick in... The top pipe is getting very hard and it's putting water out the overflow pipe... Any suggestions???

    3 possibilities as i see it.

    1 its airlocked
    2 new thermostat is faulty
    3 headgasked is goosed

    I found the original fan switch would not pull the relay in to start the fan. I had 12 volts in but only about 4 coming out. So I switched mine externally. You will need to fit a bleed off pipe to the highest point be it thermostat housing or radiator to an expansion bottle. My expansion bottle is then fed into the system via the rear heater take off on the head.

    Food for thought cheers lads... Said it to a fitter at work there and he reckons it could be a faulty rad cap, which is one of those lever type caps...

    unlikely to be faulty rad cap if the hoses are blown up hard, that shows they are under a lot of pressure, you would expect a rad cap to vent some of that off
