    Head and Cam info required.

    Hi Guys,
Need to draw on your collective knowledge and wealth of experience.

Have a standard 2.0 Pinto in the RS and have sourced an Injection head.

Question is shall I just bolt it on or take the opportunity to up the performance a bit with a cam and headwork.?

Looking for torque rather than revs as the bottom end and pistons are standard.

Views on cam choice really appreciated, want low down grunt rather than raw power. I intend to keep carb standard DGAV with re-jet if req. Thinking about Kent FR30 Caravan type cam.

Also how about headwork for torque, Big inlet and exhaust + porting or just big inlet or just porting.? Do bigger valves even increase torque?, would the head need work with such a high lift cam?

How about compression ratio..More compression = more torque? If so how about thinner gasket instead of skimming?

Spoke with CNC heads and they want to do the full monty i.e big valves, ports, skim but not 100% sure they got their heads around what Im ultimately after to be honest.

    So in summary:

Could do with more grunt low down and have an injection head ready and waiting, carb standard.

All ideas and experience most welcome.
    And thanks in anticipation.

inlet porting is a good idea on any spec pinto, big inlet valves are good at any state of tune.

if your on a budget then injection head, FR30, and felpro headgasket will give good gains, teh felpro will give you approx half ratio more compression

    Thanks Graham.
So any idea what sort of power to expect with a good port job and larger inlets + Felpro + cam?

130- perhaps a bit more, bearing in mind as std they only make 100bhp on a good day

if your going for large inlets and throat porting then a skim is a no brainer i would say.

I ported my own pinto head and it provided really good results, skimmed with larger inlets, took a fair bit of time and a lot of reading beforehand though...
