Cam affects/which to go for
Hi.
Currently have a fully lightened and balanced stroker bmw m44 engine (318 1.9 16v bored to 2100cc) with block capable of 8000rpm.
Stock head other than being ported.
Cams are listed as 244 with10.2mm of lift.
Car is very tame. It idles like a standard car and drives like a standard car with more power.
Im considering a set of catcams as ive found a cheap set.
Which are 283 / 284 10.75 lift.
Car is soley used for competition and is still on standard inlet.
Currently at around 169bhp and 161ftlbs i think
Im thinking of fitting above cams with a bored throttle body. What affect am i likely to get. Will it still be as driveable? More power? Torque?

Re: Cam affects/which to go for
Have a look on the cat cams site and it should give you a guide to the rpm range they make power in

Re: Cam affects/which to go for
lumpy cams and std plenum will idle and run badly at low speed.

Re: Cam affects/which to go for
look at the lift at tdc figures, that says far more than timing
