    Nice!

Is this your first helicopter? Have you tried to fly it yet?

Re: I’ve got a big chopper

I know the feeling - I went from indoor electric ones to one similar to yours.

They are really good once you get brave enough to actually take off. I have some videos of mine at www.omj624p.co.uk/rc

I'm still only a learner too.

Make sure someone is there to video you when you do. If you crash it is good to watch it back and learn what the hell went wrong. Often it may have been a mechanical fault, not your flying skills.

I've crashed mine a few times, and yes it is expensive and very fiddly to rebuild. But thats half the fun, isnt it?

Used to fly model planes years ago. That got expensive but luckily I was at school so my Dad financed our hobby I was flying one of his once & I smashed it into a million pieces

no not as yet spending more time setting up for 3d takes quite a long time to set up a heli properly and ive been flying for 8 years and still takes time.

Re: I’ve got a big chopper

I've been flying just over 2 years, and am still not confident enough to fly nose-in. I can with the small fixed pitch ones but I am too scared to try with the big one

3D seems a long way off for me.

Whats do you mean by 3d?

Steve what electric indoor Heli would you recommend, Ive flown before and crashed several times but would love to take the hobby further, I can fly fixed wing and am confident with them too but Heli's, well.....cost me £200 for a heli last time and over £300 in repairs LOL

Re: I’ve got a big chopper

3D is a bit of an odd term, cos dont all helicopters fly in 3 dimensions already? up/down - left/right forward/back

3D is the term for the aerobatics, ie flying upside-down, etc.

Any fixed pitch heli will be more robust due to the much lower head speed. I can only go on experience. I have flown 2...

Colco Thunderbird - VERY robust. Will take loads of abuse and still fly. Fairly stable.

Walkera Dragonfly 4 - less robost, more easy to break but you can get out of many crashes with no damage still. Much more stable in the air than the Colco.

I have videos of both flying at www.omj624p.co.uk/rc

    Hope this helps.

Steve, I cant get onto your site properly from work my internet is terrible today and takes 10 minutes to buffer your videos so I'll watch them when I get in.

What are the costs of each one roughly, and which would you go for to start off in?

    Dragonfly: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Walkera-2007-D...QQcmdZViewItem

You'll probably need spares, the Dragonfly will be easier to get hold of. I guess that will be the one to go for. I really like the Colco though and I have loads of spares for it already, if you were nearer I would recommend that one instead.

Re: I’ve got a big chopper

the best way to start flying a heli is to buy a indoor hirobo lama.they give you the basics without freezing your boll!!!s of on the pissing of rain.any one who has just started flying needs lots of stick time so indoors is the way to go.also if you can afford a real flight simulator get one as i said stick time is what you need.i used a sim to practic 3d flying and all the tricky stunts we do when we fly at shows all around the world.so keep practicing and it will come quite quickly.good luck.also when flying a big heli it is easier but due to the size and the noise it is harder to fly because your shit scared of it but believe me the bigger the easier it is to fly.

Re: I’ve got a big chopper

I got to agree that it is easier to fly a big heli than a small one. I haven't flown in two years but then I could hover my Shuttle RG in all condidtions and could fly round myself but a with a small indoor heli I had no control at all.
