It seems that this is the more complicated engine to use as regards the wiring! Not impossible, just more complicated because it has an imobiliser in the ECU so you need the ingnition key(which you obviously have)which I assume will have to go into the receiving car(barrel and key, I mean), and as the ECU is the EEC V it is also a little more difficult to chip! Not insurmountable problems,but..... Other than that,it's the usual path of using Capri 2.8i bits(engine mounts, flywheel, you could get away with a 2.8i gearbox,(I did!)rear axle etc.) It has been done often enough now that it is no longer a problem!

that's the BOB engine - the Ultima typeone the more popular and generally easier to fit and use is the BOA as found in the Granadas ( scorpio etc)
i had one of these in an Xr4i & XR4x4 a few niggle with them but great fun...

If it were me (I've got a BOA block in my capri) i'd ditch the EEC V ECU, and get an aftermarket one. Make up a new loom as the ECU requires, and wire that in. It saves all the messing about with the extra cr*p that the EEC V does, and (unless you intend to use the MT75 box) it will help with power, as i've been told that without the speed sensor, the ECU drops the engine back to a safer "reserve" power curve. Having an aftermarket ECU would unlock any extra potential power. The BOB block is definitely better for power tho!

    Re: cosworth 24v into capri?

i wired up an EEC V after a friend fitted a BOA in a MK3 cortina, complete with lambda probes etc, the only thing missing was the speed sensor. it worked just fine, far more power than the chassis could cope with, the only drawback is the engine is a bit prone to stalling, but nothing the owner wasnt happy to live with consdering how cheap the conversion was.

that said a mappable ecu is the best way to do it and will result in a power gain over the EEC V, if for no other reason than you can then dump the airflow meter and map for maxium power rather than emissions

You can prevent the stalling at junctions by adjusting the idle screw. Works a charm!
