Capri 1 aero
A friend is running a '71 Capri in a vintage racing group. He's mostly running on large, long tracks in the US, and spends a lot of time on the long straghts being passed by faster cars... we're working on another engine, but I've been wondering if there is anything on the table as far as aerodynamics.
The sanctioning body he's running with will allow him to run pretty much any spoilers or air dams that any Capri ever used, factory or "era correct" racing bits. He's not running into any noticeable high speed handling issues, so we're mostly interested in lowering drag. (we already have the car as low as practical)
Anyone have any information or suggestions?

Re: Capri 1 aero
Drive backwards? i did read somewhere a capri has a more aerodynamic shape backwards than forwards!
im afraid that was absolutely no help to you sorry.

Re: Capri 1 aero
It looks like all the racing effort went into the Cortina and Escort, at least until the Roush and Zakspeed turbo Capris, which didn't have a whole lot of "Capri" left by the time the builders were finished.
Looks like we're stuck with guesswork and coast-down tests. That'll take several days, assuming I can browbeat him into doing it...

Re: Capri 1 aero
i do recall reading about a blue mk1 that raced on the salt flats that had remarkably little if anything in the way of areo other than some nascar like roof "flaps" in case of a spin
