Nice looking exhaust there, well worth the money they cost

Whats happening with the fan from the old rad? Might be interested if your selling it and its 12" or smaller?

    Re: Fiesta D-TEC

done a fair bit since te last update:

front panel chopped out and ready to weld back up:

bonnet inner support chopped to clear airbox:

    SHitbox Racing ghetto bonnet stay

Air temp sensor fitted into path of direct airflow in airbox:

also managed to get enigne and gearbox out, the box is now in the back of my van waiting to go back to CTS for another rebuild.

fitted the new 82 deg thermostat

correctly aligned the crank position sensor

drilled and tapped water housing and fitted temp gauge senders

removed battery box bracket and resprayed chassis leg

front panel welded, awaiting a little fibreglass and filler

    going back together:

That's going to be so rapid. I can imagine it now, some poor unsuspecting Porsche driver thinking you're just another boom box wide boy chav in his lowered 1.25L Zetec, then gets left by a blur of red and 8500rpm!

spent a few minutes sorting out the mounting of gauges

got to get a volt gauge, and then wire them all in, oh and get the blue led illumination for them

also managed to fangle a new bonnet stay, not sure how well it will work, or how long it will last, but i dont have many options

this car was originally destined to be an everyday car with a fast engine, i just got carried away.

hopefully once its properly mapped its should stillbe pretty good on the old gogo juice

thanks guys, really appreciate the comments

i always wanted to prove a modern car could still be cool, having owned the car since i passed my test almost 8 years ago now i've been able to make it just the way i wanted.

hopefully my mk1 escort will be up to the same standard when its done

    Re: Fiesta D-TEC

so, car went to the rolling road

not diclosing figures as i'm unhappy

turns out the airbox and the exhaust manifold are costing me power

    here's the update since:

    ARP Rod Bolts

    90mm Trumpets (hope they fit)

so, i trial fitted on of the trumpets to check clearance...

loadsa room! gonna look the tits once they're all on and the backplate is removed

then i wanted to properly compare the trumpets

opening is much wider with a bigger taper and wider flange, should help with the airflow and mean i get a good power and torque gain

then i decided that the rocker cover just wasn't quite right, so inspired by what a guy over in dubai has done...

much better, gotta do the other raised bit now

car is booked back in for a new manifold (i've now done the research into primary lengths etc) it'll be running closer to a cosworth/caterham spec manifold

Are Simpson putting it right FOC Adam?
You should be seeing at least 210+ from those mods.

BTW Cam cover looks miles better now.

no, unfortunately the way they operate is that they make the exhausts to the customers specifications

that way they are not held liable when things such as power figures go wrong

i'm having to shell out for another complete manifold, then hope that someone who just wants to run reasonably standard power figures (or an exhaust to modify) wants to buy my old one for a reasonable sum.

tbh i'd be happy with any figure over 180bhp, but you're right, it should be much closer to 200bhp

due to proximity to hoses, some will need re-routing, or some heat shields at the least

oh, and found the fan plug disconnected, so will be modifying the plug so it doesn't happen again (zip-tie ftw!)

sounds even better, and hopefully after mapping will show some improvement
