That'll be the cause of the breakage then. You'll need to get the casting beefed up or as mentioned previously, remanufactured in steel.

seems a little silly that thats the reason the vibratechnics mount must've been through testing

and you'd have thought that the casting should be strong enough

    i'm not even running 200bhp

Adam the most powerful engine the Vibratechnics mounts would have been tested with would be the 155 Racing Puma engine, and it won't have any where near the torque you have, and I think even those have torque limiting in 1st gear.

    Looking forward to more updates.

just a shame that strength usually means weight

i hae a steel version of the mount, but i'm not happy with it, hence why i never used it

the bolt holes dont line up and it just doesn't really look that great, it also fouls the clutch pipe.

gotta try and find a fabricator i can take the cast mount to.

Or even better get a billet alloy mount made. You could draw it yourself to save costs and order the part here:

    Re: Fiesta D-TEC

so, i got bored and have started to re-do a few little bits

    pics of the exhaust

got my strut tops back from being anodised

    look much better:

    re-fitted the strut tops

and put a tiny bit of camber on the rear (dont know what its going to look like until the car is back on the ground)

    not fitted properly yet but...

went and bought a catch tank today, and my bolts have arrived to make sure my rear hubs aren't going to fall off

hopefully over the weekend i'll get it up and running again

    Re: Fiesta D-TEC

in an attempt to get the brakes working correctly (not enough vacuum) i've had an idea

i had these machined up by flick5848 (cheers mate)

i only had one injector to hand, but i fitted the o-rings and injector end cap

then found the original fuel rail

and tried the fit (nice and snug)

using the original injector holes i will draw a vacuum from all 4 cylinders into the old empty fuel rail

this will be connected via a 1-way valve to a vacuum reservoir tank i'm having made up which in turn will be connected to the original brake servo

    what are your thoughts?

    Re: Fiesta D-TEC

    It's a good idea
I think you will need to fit a 1-way valve between each of the cylinders and the reservoir otherwise the vacuum will just leak out of the ports which are not on the induction stroke.

    quick update

i went down to halfords and bought some in-line valves
    (these ones) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165562

it was quite bulky around the centre, but i stuck it in the drill and was able to machine it down, so it was basically a straight length of pipe

unfortunately i've crushed it in the drill chuck (next time i'll go a little easier, but... this is defo the way to go unless i can come up with a better idea

can get it down to approx 6mm in diameter, so by enlarging the 5mm centre-bore of the tube to 6mm for half the length it should sit quite happliy inside

    Genious idea Adam.
I wouldn't bother with the individual valves Do you have the original flame trap from the plastic servo pipe you took off your car? Maybe that could be incorporated for safety.

Got the Crank Sensor gizmo in the post. Thanks 8-)

    Re: Fiesta D-TEC

as an update, popped down to TOTD to speak to Chris Todd, just with the plan to ask him about mapping

    basically:

up by 6 bhp and about 15lb/ft torque

he gave it a few runs to see what the map looked like, and tbh it wasn't too bad, although was leaning off towards the top end, so adjusted that, and said the bodies may have become slightly inbalanced (slightly uneven at idle) so i need to look into that.

he also adjusted the throttle linkage slightly as i was getting about 95% WOT

Chris reckons there's no point in doing any more to the map at the moment as he says the engines doing all it can and reckons cams will really unleash the power (looking 180+ with cams) and the good thing is the manifold is going to be perfect for more in the future

but... they all liked the car, seemed friendly and professional, and only cost me a power run

    recieved this from ferriday engineering:

a 6mm thick thermal insulation inlet gasket

this should hopefully bring down my inlet temps a fair amount - a lot of heat soak into the t/b's currently

also comes with nylon washers to prevent heat soak through the mounting studs (longer studs provided)

    explained here:

    http://www.ferriday.co.uk/gaskets/gaskets.shtml

no real evidence, however, there is massive heat soak in my t/b's and its been mentioned by a few people now
