Well after a while here we go. I have finally got the car back from oddy at south west restos This was down to me being busy and it being a 400 mile round trip but yesterday it came back home with new wings full length strut tops front panel and a couple of other bits.
I m well chuffed with it. The next plans is to get the engine bay stripped some drilled holes filled and get it in primer for a trial fitting as there some things i would like to do again in particular the brake pots. Who makes a decent bracket for 3 ap pots?

Well finally got into gear. Been messing around with my bias pedal box and the pots. Never been happy with the holes and brackets i made up. So filled them up with some small round plates, luckily they were roughly the size of a 10 p coin. Mounted the pots on the other side of the bulkhead now and will run the pipes to the cylinders under the bulkhead. To level the pots i have put a small bed of weld on one side which tilts the put level when tightened.

Cut out the new top panel !!! To fit the rad back in needs a bit of fine tuning but getting there. Once all the cutting and grinding has been done will paint strip the whole bay ready for priming and painting etc.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1355663978.047388.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1355664009.712023.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1355664021.399963.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1355664046.140441.jpg

well 5 year break and mojo has come back. I have been gathering bits all time whilst getting with life and making progress on the anglia which is now been running for a couple of years. The car was complete and running when i pulled it apart to get the wing tops replaced etc and been sitting there ever since.

I have started stripping the engine bay ready for painting but before that i plan to fit an auto tunnel which i have in stock ready. hopefully a lot will go back reasonably easy as it all came out of the car. Most progress will be painting and cleaning things and painting then the pinto will go back in but do fancy a duratec but that may have to wait for more money.

Ok so been busy stripping off all the paint and priming. This highlighted the many factory and non factory holes which I have been busy welding up.

Also made a start on the automatic gearbox tunnel[/IMG]

Took some ideas from Eric’s duratec build which has been a great inspiration to crack on with this. Thanks Eric

Also made up some brackets to mount the fan as I was never happy with ties that go through the matrix.

    These are now black now.

    Finally ended up at this

Have also been busy painting various bits in between ready for reassembly.

Ready to collect some 2k rattle cans this week and hopefully a green engine bay at the weekend.

    Re: MK1 turbo pinto

so got 2 cans of 2k modena green and painted the lower half of the engine bay. Looked great if a little dark. But who knows what a 40 year old car colour is. Picked up a third can and this turned out to be the correct colour and a 2 tone engine bay

A week later after working away and a chat with the paint supplier they supplied some more paint FOC and we ended up with this. it's not concours but more than happy with how it has turned out.

so started adding some parts. It's all going great as the car has been together already so just a bit of cleaning and painting of bits as they have been hanging around the garage a long while.

I think the credit should go to the 2k paint really it seems to really cover and and get a lovely gloss. Not like the old Dupli-color cans

I thought 2K was quite nasty, what precautions do you take?

    you are quite correct

after a bit of research and advice and also not wanting to die i ended up like this.

I also used rubber surgery gloves as you also get paint on your fingers when spraying. The mask was specific for 2k paint and has replaceable filters. The car is also in door of the garage so plenty of ventilation. It was worth the effort in the end as the mist gets all over you. I probably spent more on safety than actual paint.
