Can you use a standard washer as a seal?
Hi, bit of a strange question.
I need to seal a extention pipe to a diesel injector. It came from factory with a small stainless steel washer as a seal, but i need some new ones and cant seem to find any on the internet.
Could i just use a standard stainless steel washer aslong as the dimensions are correct?
I can get the size i need in copper but im not sure if these would be suitable as it came from the factory with stainless ones.
It is to seal on the high pressure side, on a common rail diesel.
Thanks

common rail pressures are so high, that most manufactures say you cant even reuse injector pipes once undone, in practise thats a bit over kill but copper washers are a no no, they are far too soft,
common rails need about 300 bar fuel pressure just to start up and when running can go to 2500bar, thats 37,000 psi they are not to be messed with

No, you cant use a stainless steel washer, its way too hard, wont compress and seal.

Going to get some from the local injector place tomorrow, should hopefully sort it out
