Pre Jan 1976 Vehicles not MOT Exempt

Mine has just been moved over to Historic class. Free roax tax. still requires MOT NOV 1973 first registered

Just to put a note on this thread as i did it tail end of last year when it was time to tax my car. Once my car was eligible (over 40 years old on the logbook) All i had to do is take my logbook to the post office. Just have to send off the logbook requesting a classification change to historic vehicle. Job done.

Just to update my Status , I phoned the DVLA , and explained my dillema of should i send my log book off , or should i visit the post office

The answer is , if you want to go by the build date , And get an application in early then its the DVLA who has to scrutinise your VIN /Chassis number

Or , if you wait till April 1st , Take the V5 with the taxation bit changed to "historic" + MOT + 2 forms ( V10 , V62 ) to the Post Office
... and all should be Hunky dorey
