    Ford Escort MK2 sport restoration

    Hi All

First time posting on this site. I am restoring an escort mk2
Hope the photos cam up all right. Now my question is this. I have small top mount holes. I can easily get small strut top mounts from the UK. But since i am doing the whole restoration once is it worth while cutting to make them a large hole setup? is there any benefit? Also i am going to put strengthening tops in? is it even worth doing on a fast road car (will never be on the track) .
I am putting a 2 litre pinto with a 4 speed qauife we have lying around here in it. If you guys have any tips for what i should be doing while the car is being prepped for paint it would be great to hear what you suggest i do. As i said best doing it once time around.

When I done mine I put Rs strengthening parts on the inner wings aswell as the correct chassis skids tramp bars and a pan hard rod ,I kept the small top mounts.
Mine still retains a xflow but handles really well for what it is

    Nice project

If you can fitting large hole strut tops will broaden the range of strut top mounts you can use, for the road the best ones are the rubber roller bearing top mounts which are only available in large hole size. Also worthwhile fitting chassis gussets, between the bulkhead and front chassis legs, reduces flex.

A little bit off topic here ( hope you don't mind ) but can you possibly post a picture of the colour tag ? I recently picked up a Sport and I'm sure it's the same colour but mine is faded to bits and needs a blow over . I am going to need a colour code and possibly paint description. Thanxs in advance .
