I would think you also need to change the sump ?

i would think flywheel, starter and clutch. I did read years ago that the 4x4 is a thicker block so engine mounts may need consideration depending on installation and check oil filter location.

Re: cosworth 4x4 engine onto a 2wd
I'm using the 4x4 engine in my Escort. I've got a 2wd flywheel, starter and clutch - as well as sump, obviously. Other than that, it's virtually the same thing. Some minor differences in terms of ancilliaries (thermostat housing for example - but you can swap to the simpler 2wd if necessary), it can take a knock sensor, which the 2wd cannot.
Engine mounts are just standard Pinto/RS2000 on a wcxm. With two blocks next to each other you can see where the extra thickness and strength in the 4x4 block is - it's not a huge difference by any means, but certainly visible.
