Not a claw, not a blow, it smells new inside.

    I can not resist.

The black bumpers are replaced by the chrome models.

These square headlights are very ugly.

Great story so far! Pity about the engine. Sorry to hear about it. But onwards and upwards.

A broken rod always has a reason. Sometimes difficult to find out why but please do not always shoot the engine builder before you know what went wrong. Kent Engines as not as strong as Pinto's (but even Pinto's are not that save when it comes to oil temps). I've seen these sized rods before. Over enthusiast driving with no oil cooler or no extra baffles for hard cornering is all what is needed to receive a rod like this. I have no relation with the company who has build this engine so not protecting anyone but I do know how fast and engine like this can end in tears. Even a fast road Pinto without oil cooler can not be hard run without risk. Oil temp goes up a lot quicker as you may believe.

Don't think you can for example drive uphill at Wellin (E411) at full throttle without and oil cooler on a KENT engine. Before you see the top you will have marks on your conrods. I do believe you know this hill. That's where in Summer all cars are standing on top with water flowing out of the radiator. Fully loaded, from Spain back to Belgium in one day and than Wellin Hill !!!!

Re: La Raboteuse - "The Planer" - Belgian Escort MK2

BTW, did you ever found the reason why the rods was sized? Did you made some investigation? Was the rod cap fitted the wrong way? Where all other conrod ends grind to correct size? Any other sign of wear that can indicate lack of oil, to high oil temp or all perfect?

What was the oil pressure during normal driving and did it stay high all the time, also when the engine was hot? What oil temperature where you running? Engine water temp? Still running the small 1300 cc radiator or upgrade to a bigger version?

Any idea about the engine spec like max power, camshaft, compression ratio, ignition advance setup right? Carb setup right? No over heating because engine was not running correct setup?
