Never seen one of these before

I was at Mercedes world today and there was an auction on, one of the cars being auctioned was this RS1900, I had never heard of one so I was unsure it was a real ford model. I put it on facebook and it's gone mad with interest, mainly people slagging it off, but it's a weird car I must admit.

Have any of you seen one in the past, not my cup of tea at all

    Thanks
    Kris

I know nowt about them but I know it's a rattlesnake bodykit, if I'm not mistaking the "RS" stands for that's aswell (rattle snake) and not the genuine "RS". So not a ford rs model. Maybe back in the day of max power these may have looked nice, but not my cup of tea at all.

American tall block CVH, RS stood for rattle snake body kit and were knocked together by Dagenham motors.

Fibretechnics was a company in Bradford that made body kits back in the day

My mate bought a new RS Turbo in 1987 - E671BMX - he knew fuck all about cars and drove like a flustered nun but he had just received his first big yuppie bonus. He bought it on a Ford ticket as his dad was a Ford employee. I can clearly remember him saying that when he went to the showroom he had the choice of a RST or a 1900 RS but he picked the former because it had a turbo. So yes, definately a model that was in the showrooms in 1987. His first big trip in his RS was when three of us with our families went to centre parks in Nottingham. There was him in his RS, my mate in a 1600 mk5 Cortina and me in a....Fiesta 1.1. Anyway, we had to keep slowing down for him to catch us up and we weren't exactly speeding. He sold it a year later with less than 1500 miles on the clock. I think I did more miles in it that he did!!

Many years ago (maybe around 2001 - 2002), I went to a company called Fibresporst in Basildon (they're still there). On the wall they had the complete side of an Mk3 Escort bodyshell. When I asked the director about it, he said Ford Motor Company gave that bodyshell profile to them when the Mk3 was still in production. They were tasked to create the 'Rattle Snake' kit on it.

I was given the impression they initially designed it for Ford, but I'm not sure that's true.

They still sell the kit... http://www.fibresports.co.uk/product...ng-fro/FS10168

The tv times gave one away in a compertition too.
Tourque developments built the engines, i beleave there was 2 specs.
As said dagenham motors had them built as a special editionxr3i.
I have heard that there was a cab done too but that maybe pub gossip.

Fibresports also made the x pack body kits for ford in the 70"s...
