    My N/A Cossie 1993cc

Here is the plot I had done at Track and Road on the rolling road day last year.

Brief spec. 1993cc N/A cossie,Accrilite pistons, Forged Crank, STD cossie rods, Graham Hathaway Touring car spec N/A head, SBD Cams, REC valves, Titanium caps, Isky springs, Millington spec 52mm Tapers, Pico injectors, MBE 956E management, Pace dry sump.

It could do with a 2.4 bottom end really, the two Steves at the rollers said the power doesn't really taper off right to the limiter so it could do with a capacity increase or Billet crank and some nice rods and take it to 10 grand as the ports are huge and can easily flow more air.

    Oh well better get saving

i'd expect 250 with that spec...

    Re: My N/A Cossie 1993cc

Just after this plot was done, I had part of a valve seat drop out and had to replace the two inlet seats on No3 so it may have well been a bit down on power. I've got a new Tony law manifold on it now so I'll get it done again soon and see what it's giving. It certainly beats cars that claim to have 250+ BHP most of the time so it may well have been a bit poorly.

The new manifold definitly feels better mate, the mid range is better for sure and it still pulls hard right up to the rev limiter.

Yea but then it just wouldn't sound right, the sound of those TB's on full chat is awsome (can be heard at Brands this Thursday) I do love the YB turbos and I do have power envy sometimes but it's not what I think my Escort should be like.

    nice job
    and good horsepower.

I bought my 1st turbo motor a couple of years ago and prefer the nat asp every time. you will never beat a turbo for ultimate power but 220 or 250 in an old escort is plenty enough.

    all the best

i have a NA cossie aswel and it goes well, but i miss the "WOW" feeling, I' d rather go for 300 if I would build another engine, even though it's rather expensive...

    Re: My N/A Cossie 1993cc

Good engine spec, although if you had the same sort of spec in an XE you would have 250-260 bhp

2.0 N/A cossie engines are a bit of a disapointment, most of them make around the 230bhp mark and 250 is rare.

    2.0 XE's can be tuned to 280bhp.

The yb is an excellent forced induction engine, not so good fo N/A.

    That's my opinion.

When max torque and bhp are at the same revs there is a problem and more power to come out of the engine with some more tuning.

I would suspect cossie matt's exhaust and intake lengths are causing this, when optimally tuned you would see about 10 more bhp and a better spread of power throughout the rev band.

    Jason.

Ha ha, I thought I recognised the car lol!

Ya I think he has a 2.3 duratec, he probably came to the smae conclusion as me, XE's and duratecs are way better than N/A cossies.

    Hi All

Yea decided to go the duratec route and don't regret it one bit. It is 2L 294bhp and 189lbft. Revs to 9400.

    Superb
