No one can help?
Please.
What's the rush? You've not even left the initial message on here for 24 hours!
fiesta 1600 kent engine ?
Thanks "Racing Escort", might be that.
I just can`t find anything about this block.
CheeRS
"HonkyWhitheTrash", you`re right, sorry.
Don`t mean to desrespect no one.
I am in a rush, because i have first dibs to buy this block and there are a lot of people after it.
But before i buy it, i would like to know what it is, or if it worth buying. I would not pay, for something i don`t know.
I am after a good block, to build a new engine.
If it is a fiesta block, easy way to check is the number of bolt holes for the engine mounts, one side only has three !. Also if the head is still on it there is a big boss under the thermostat housing that is used to mount the engine on a Fiesta. Personally I thought the Fiesta ones were 771M ?
Thanks Tony B.
Been checking and it`s not a Fiesta block. You`re right, they`re 771M blocks.
This one might be a BDA block, or similar to the ones used on Zackspeed engines, been told that a while ago, but can`t confirm it!
Hi,
H = Motorsport, 711 = 71 Modelyear, 6015 = engine block, BA = 1600 cc.
What is the actual bore of the block and does it have a casting number?
Hi Miniliteman,
i would ask him, those details and let you know.
How much can i pay for it, any ideas?
It has 2 good pistons (2 melted), conrods and crankshaft.
I would like to make a racing engine out of it.
Thanks a lot.
CheeRS
Bore is 86,5mm...
It could be a so called Siamesed Ashcroft block as used on the London to Mexico rally.
If it is, and is in good condition it is a good buy.
If it is not, and/or isn't in good condition it is scrap.
Melted piston usually means that there is block-bore damage as well.
And at 86.5 mm there could be no material left for a hone or re-bore.
Any info on the casting number? (T something).
Thank you Miniliteman.
I would find out the T-- casting, and let you know.
I have to check the condition of it, too.
T number has been come folk law in recent times, someone said it somewhere and its just been repeated until its become a " fact" No one refered to T numbers back in the 70's and 80's
That makes sense now then!
It may be an exciting engine block to have but beware if it has been raced etc - not only does obvious condition come into the equation (bores / top face / main bearing and camshaft bores etc) but also cracks and also whether the bores are porous. Check to see whether it has been "decked" also. So many things to remember to check. I'd be wanting it pressure and crack tested if I was spending big bucks!
Thanks mate.
I will give a good look at it.
Might be a good block to make a proper engine.
you don't need a fancy block to build a stonking engine just a good engine builder, use a normal one and spend your brass on better internals and a good head
You`re right "fatboy slim".
But for £250 i don`t think it`s a bad deal, if in useable condition.
Been offered a South African 711M 6015 R34, but know nothing about it too...
250 £ is a bargain, I would buy it any week ...
£250 is only a bargain if the block is in a usable condition, otherwise it's a very expensive lump of scrap. Caution always needs to be exercised when buying a second hand bare block.
Hi Miniliteman,
yes, 711M 6015 R34. South African block.
Will upload a picture.
T numbers only went to 20
never seen a R number casting
R34 is the standard South African suffix for those blocks. The 831C AX blocks are also R34 (831C 6015 R34)

Hi guys
I can't find any infomation, other but here on this forum.
Can you help me out?
I have the same engine number as Portuguese_Mexico
H711F 6015 AB
You say
H = Motorsport
711 = 1971 Year, but why 711 and not 71. Why is there two 1's?
F = What is that?, if it's M it's Kent Block.
6015 = Engine block, What can i read from this?
AB = The BDA RS 1600 Cosworth
And the previous owner say that's a 1799 Cm3, 214 hk, Inline4, DOHC (It's a 1973 Ford Escort Race car with FIA-documents), so the engine most has been modified or just another engine?
Thanks,
Danny
Danny,
sometimes Ford used the 2 digit code (like 71) for a partno. sometimes they used a 3 digit code (like 711); don't know why.
711F is the 1600cc BDA block, it differs from the 711M block by having 4 additional holes in the block for cooling the BD head.
6015 is the Ford code for "engine block".
From your description it will be a bored block (85 mm is 1760 cc, 85.6 mm is 1790 cc) probably used as a period F2 engine or for Escort Mk1 in Gp2.
Thank you very much!
I think you are right. The engine is in a Ford Escort Mk I from 1973.
Thanks for your description of year and and engine block number.
Thanks,
Danny
Hi
I have one block 711M6015R36...any informations about this one?
could you post a picture of the bores and top of the block ?
R36, are you sure?
if its a siamese block on 86.5 mm and damaged its still worth a set of liners , there a very rare block.
Hi guys - I have just come across the thread on this forum as I am also interested in the history of these blocks. I have an ex UK Mk 1 Mexico which is fitted with a Kent pushrod block with the casting No H711F6015AB. From my research - and please don't hesitate to correct me if you have additional information - I am advised that these blocks were made by Ford as Motorsport blocks based on the 1598cc pushrod Kent Cortina/Escort/Capri engines. The manufacture of the blocks was initiated by Peter Ashcroft who worked as an engine specialist at Boreham and was heavily involved in the development of the BDA. From what I believe these 'F' block/Ashcroft blocks as they were known (due to the 5th digit in the casting number and the involvement of Peter Ashcroft) were developed for motorsport use and were only ever cast as a block only and never supplied as a complete engine in order that race engine builders could do their 'own thing' with the build specs of the engine. These blocks had a capacity of 1830cc/1850cc and due to the larger bore size, the center oil gallery was removed and an external oil line ran from the intake side of the block to the exhaust side of the block to supply oil to that side of the engine. On the exhaust side of the engine there is cast fitting for the oil line just forward of the engine mount. I believe that only 300 of these blocks were ever made. When Boreham made the decision to run pushrod engines in the London to Mexico rally cars these blocks were used as they were stronger and had a larger capacity than the 'normal' 1598 production engines. Now we all know that the London to Mexico rally was run in 1970 so I can only assume the blocks were produced in both 1970 and 1971 and hence the '711' in the casting to designate a 1971 cast on my engine and the block that initiated this post. Maybe someone could have a look at the engine in the FEV1H at the Ford museum and confirm if the block has a 'H701F6015AB' casting for a 1970 cast block? As I said this is only information that I have gathered and if someone has and further or different information I would be only too pleased to hear it.
Cheers
Respond to myself because I had the chance today to see a "AB" block, and these one has the oil connections on both side.
so the 711h6015D could suffer from oil distribution issue
Would be nice to have an 1850cc Kent motor. I can but dream.
Are we there yet?
With an AX block you can have something not bad in term of cc.
I'm looking to build a BDR or more than 1700cc !
