Steel xflow
Theoretical questions
probably been asked a million times,on a standard 1600 xflow if I were to go all steel rods crank and forged Pistons what ideally would be the maximum rpm limit I should put?
standard bottom end is ok for 6500?
What size crank do I need I.e from burton or Wilcox etc is it the wide journal 77.65mm?
and the Conroe size 5.23 wide?
cheers

Re: Steel xflow
Short stroke xflow engines were revved to 10.000 rpm in the hot rod era !
What is it for ?

Re: Steel xflow
with good rod bolts even a standard bottom end will live with 7000 for a long while,
an all steel engine should cope fine with 9-10K although you probably wont get any power that high up the rev range

Re: Steel xflow
so an a8 camshaft would suit an all steel set up? any other cams that would go to around 9 k ?
whats the difference between i section and h section rods?
and 6 hole and 12 hole crank?
thanks

Re: Steel xflow
thisprofile are old school one, I had a A6, up to 8k.
But nowadays, more modern profile exists said the engine builders...
my steel crank has 6 bolts and 2 inserts

Re: Steel xflow
Isn't the A8 the old hot rod profile, won't do a lot under 4500 if I remember correctly

Re: Steel xflow
A lot of the top Hot Rod engines in the late 70's had the Cosworth A8 profile cam in their engines.

Re: Steel xflow
What do you want to use it for?
