'Stitch Weld' Block & head repairs with cold metal stiching

    http://stitchweld.co.uk/

This guy fixed a block for while I waited, stitched in a section the size of a jar lid on a rally pinto. Saved the block.

It was a 5 hour round trip for me but well worth it & didn't even need to be a bare block. Can also ship it on a pallet of course.

There were engines there from Aston Martins to diesel trains! Some of the repairs were amazing, holes the size of dinner plates in blocks repaired.

I did 8 competitive miles on a hot day during a rally with no fan belt = no water pump. The block cracked outwards from the core plug.
The the core plug & metal beyond the cracks was cut out completely & new metal let-in by 'cold metal stitching'.

I have previously scrapped blocks & head that could have easily been repaired.

This engine is revved to 8000 rpm & is in region of 200bhp, gets very hot on rallies & has been perfect since the repair 2 years ago.

The repair is virtually invisible even before paint.

Jay Leno's garage had an episode on a block repair that IIRC he called stiching. Did not involve heat. Might be the same process...
