    Phase sensor timing

    To set up the phase sensor correctly, am I right in thinking that you just set up the distributor as if it were being using to control the ignition timing; i.e. align timing marks on pulleys with number number one piston at TDC, and make sure the the alignment mark on distributor body and rotor arm match? That should mean the phase sensor is also in the correct position, yes?

    Of course I'm no longer using the distributor for spark control (wasted spark system fitted), only for the phase sensor.

    Arm should b pointing straight at the mark on the body I use a spare rotor arm with a pin glued to it so no1 tdc is bang on
    Use a dti on the piston to get tdc exact

    Exact timing of a sync trigger tooth is largely irrelevent - as long as it is within the window the ECU is expecting it to be. IMO the potential slack / build up of tolerances within a dizzy drive could be +/- 5 degrees so its just as well accuracy isn't required. I added a pin into one of my camshafts to eliminate some of the variance (mainly cos bikes don't have distributors LOL!)

    Tolerance is 4 deg I think with cosy L1 - L6 Ecu I think then flags up phasing issue code

    Thanks for the help guys. I think we've got it timed to approximately where it should be. With all the timing marks on the front pulleys lined up and my temporary rotor arm pointing at number 1 plug it looks like the first 'nub' on the phase sensor is just shy a few degrees (I'd guess 5?) of coming up to in line with the hall sensor.

    Not sure what the variance is for an L8, as that's what I'm running.
