    Mk2 rear tubs without flares?

I want to fit 15x8" or 15x9" wheels to my Mk2, but want to retain the standard body profile - so no flares.

Has anyone done this, and if so how?

Using off the shelf 15" tubs and some careful fitting up?

I realise this involves shortening the diff. Made easier by the fact I don't have one yet

    Thanks

I did similar to my mk1 as I wanted wider wheels but didn't want bubble arches.

They way I did it was to remove /cut out the inner arch tub that extends to the outer panel. I then drilled out all the spot welds that hold the inner tub that is on the inside of the boot. Trimmed the boot floor back and instead welded the tub directly to the chassis rails giving me extra room. I extended this run directly to the outer quarter, squaring off the tubs.

Bit hard to explain so I'll add some pics later when on the computer. If you google how to minitub or tub you should get a fair idea.

I used a mk1 Corrina axle and I'm running 17x8.5 wheels under unarched rear quarters. There are a few pica around here somewhere.

Thanks Shaun, appreciated. I've done a search and can't find your pics of the 17x8.5, would look mega

I think I understand what you mean, similar approach to how I did my Valiant Charger (1975 VJ), however for that one I split the tub, move the inner inward to the rail and added a 2.5" (ish) filler strip.

Mate, that is exactly what I did.....

You just described it far easier and simpler than I did...... lol

Some pics can be found here - http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=364588

    Hope it helps.

@302esky looks tidy as, always wondered what they looked like with Globe's.

    What offset are you running?

    Cheers

    I'm looking to run these:

Re: Mk2 rear tubs without flares?

i have not measured them they are off a XBGT to a XD falcon 8" rear and 7" front, i am looking for a 15x10" to fit under her as i still have 2" to go out wide to the guard edge.. Yhose Image wheels look cool as but i am not into the black dirty wheel look which is outdated now as we are going back to polished outer and cast or polished centre as before
