Just checking when fitting a replacement tank in an Escort; does everyone else just allow their tank to vent to atmosphere through the boot floor or something similar? There's no need to fit anything fancy like a charcoal canister is there?

Excellent, that makes things easier!
Worthwhile fitting an NRV so it doesnt empty the tank if it goes on its side or roof though
I think the tank already has one in - it's a pro-alloy one (http://www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/si...51&id=proalloy), and I believe the breather has the check valve built in. At least I thought it did, simple enough for me to check though!
Thanks folks.
Always fit a proper rollover valve. NOT a check valve.
A rollover allows it to breathe in both directions, a check valve does not. Although if it is as pictured on that ProAlloy link, then you're all good.

Does this tank allow the boot floor to be raised still for watts clearance
Yes, the tank is the one listed on their site, including the red/blue valve as shown on the top of the tank. The only options I chose when ordering it were different sized tank outlet, fitment for the standard mk1/mk2 sender rather than dip tube and the hose for the standard side filling location.
Ok thanks prob not for me then as I need to raise the floor to allow watts linkage clearance on the atlas
Mine is running from the top of the tank down to the well where the old tank was and out through the floor, seems the best place for it.
Old Fords never die.....................they just get made faster!
