Re: A little something for the weekend....

yes there has been some progress

just a bit of cutting & making some sections up & a bit of welding - nothing really to warrant loads of photos

Re: A little something for the weekend....

well last weekend i replaced the top of the a post area.

doesn't get seen so not at all worried if it's 'correct' or not. all cleaned up & treated anyway.

i don't always get a nice weld though with it on it's lowest setting [clarke 150te] would .6 wire make a difference??

has this dodgy area up on the bulkhead/splash area

so made this curved section up & cut & refolded the top of the splash side panel

& this little section too to try keep the repairs neatish!!

& welded them in here yes, by the time i finished i was working by spotlight

i have been forced into some "uphill" welding recently, it makes me appreciate all the more what a "driveway" resto entails

0.6mm wire is definitely easier to manage with small MIGs

Good work BTW, keep on with it!

Re: A little something for the weekend....

added this section in from the inner wing for the strut top to meet up with when the time comes

then replaced the upper half of the splash panel & the return of the bulkhead running right through to the splash

the made another piece up to fill the top bulkhead area

have to shoot from the trackside bud!!

all this corner is now welded, cleaned, treated, filled & treated but not yet painted

also bashed the edge over so once the drip rails/fillet piece is in there there shouldn't be nowhere for water to collect

Re: A little something for the weekend....

well i cut the sill off a few months ago now

remember having trouble with the other side a couple of years back so guessed at this plate first of all

took a couple of attempts to get it tacked where i was happy. it's wasn't too bad gaps wise but was sitting out at the front & in at the back from flush

not too bad a fit really

top half fully welded in place

Re: A little something for the weekend....

i fully welded the top in place as i had that in the best position possible & then used the usual technique for the bottom

there was no way i could plug weld it because it was only just touching so decided to stitch weld it... not that i had much choice

not a bad fit though for the finished article so well happy with that
