Re: A little something for the weekend....

well that ain't too bad it was only on page 14 i thought it would be more 'lost' than that

well, it needed new headlight bowls & headlights themselves. in all fairness, it needed them a long long time ago but you all know the story i also knew that the lights in there were fixed to steel best described as 'not like new'

    a couple of months ago.....

    this is what i knew....

    this is what i found....

    i wasn't surprised

as it needs a front end in the near future i decided to make replacement panels for it for now - read 'bodge'

i then drove into work to open the holes out a bit & spray some paint on

plastic bowls fitted with new wiring

    & all finished & working

only took me a friday evening after work & a few hours on the saturday. i was quite impressed

Good work mate Those headlight surounds remind me of the ones i made for esme. If dave had followed my design both sides would of fitted

Re: A little something for the weekend....

If Matt had followed Daves design he wouldn't have had to spend ages making the hole bigger, then making it so big that the lamp fell out and smashed and poor Mogsmex got the blame.

Nice work Ratters, but I do have to say that most of my projects start off in better nick than that

Chopping the rot out can't ever be just a "bodge" ... nice job

Out for a drive on a sunny spring day reminds me why I got this car

Re: A little something for the weekend....

it didn't look that bad til the old man started standing on it couldn't have been too strong though eh?

anyway, though the best thing to do was to cut it apart after carefully thinking & measuring

    how deep is the filler!!!

    i remembered that bit

    fully welded along the back

& also underneath as the new sill only just touched chassis looks pissed in that pic but it's just the angle... i think

    penetration

    ground down a bit

    treated

& back on it's wheels ready for work tomorrow

    no i haven't cleaned it

there were other bits i had to replace too but i wasn't in the mood for pics tbh

    Brilliant mate
A damned site neater than anything I would do in a bad mood.
I have never yet fitted a sill that didn't need persuading to meet the floor panel on the underside.

Re: A little something for the weekend....

well.... as if there still isn't enough to do.... earlier on in the year i bought a nice pinto & type 9

i really want to keep the car on the road as much as possible & i've been losing interest lately so i'm gonna fit the box first on the x-flow then at a later date fit the pinto.

the next jobs on the list are the box [once i've got a few more bits i'm waiting on] mr roberts & matt thank you very much
& get the front panel/rad mounting sorted in advance for the pinto.
i also have decambered leafs that i wouldn't mind fitting before the pinto goes in too
then there's any cutting/welding that i come across on my travels around the motor
