ohhh i might have a pic or two for tomorrow
SOON be good as new
passenger side as promised
i done the majority of this over the xmas/new year holidays & fuck me was it freezing out there at times was never out there for long - usually just a couple of hours at a time for a few days.
i'll get some more pics up later as they're on the camera & i'm spending a few hours out there today anyway
also got the battery on charge & the exhaust chucked back on so might get it running later too hasn't ran for almost 3 months now
Looking good Lee . the nights will get lighter soon.
nice work going on here
All I got for christmas was a sweater, I really wanted a moaner or a screamer......
top stuff as ever lee well done m8
cheers boys
not touched it since last weekend obviously but hopefully the weather will ok to get a bit more done this weekend too
the front section all finished now.....
this section is now pretty much done bar a bit of cleaning up & treating/painting
inner chassis section replaced
made two of these for each side. spot welded at the top & shaped so they overlap underneath similar to original - not that original particularly bothers me
should finish this off in half hour or so the weekend then tackle the other bit in front the spring hanger as per the drivers side
Nice bit of work, looks like your the new driveway resto king now Dangerousdave has finished.
Looking good Lee ,If Trig gets his garage done sharpish you be able to take her round for a coat of paint
I have offered months ago
i know & thanks but painting is ages away & well down the bottom of my 'todo' list
not done a lot this weekend.... had to do house crap on saturday went out with the camera this morning for a few hours as it was nice but managed a few hours this afternoon. got the above chassis bit all finished/cleaned/treated/painted & chopped out this bit below in front of the rear spring & got a new inner skin piece in there

well i've folded the outer piece for the section above so it's virtually ready to go but been ill last few days so not touched it at all over the weekend
should be working in the workshop rather than out on site this week though so means i get to finish slightly earlier & i have noticed the evenings drawing out slightly
ohh, someones nicked the homemade '1300' badge & the broken-in-half 'escort' script from the bootlid too ..... what use it is to them i don't know but it's helped me make my de-badge or not decision

Wxxkers whats the point in that , well done Bud keep up the good work not long now.
right.... chassis under f/n/s floor all finished now.
so, next step was this section of chassis
once again, a smaller inner section to carry the section on [fully welded obviously] & then the overlap section over the top [welded & plug welded upside down]
this is now all treated but needs some paint & sealer etc to follow tomorrow
Looks great
After getting burned once too often I now refuse to do upside-down welding, you've done brilliantly well so respect to you

i was going to move forwards next - n/s inner/outer sill/front floorpan.
well, that was the plan anyway........
but instead i had a poke at this...
anyways... after a bit of hammer bashing & a wire wheel in the grinder i got to this
with this fairly strong but nasty plate on the inside too which has to come off
does anyone know how far back the inner sill repair sections go without me getting in the loft to look please? i think they go back to the little rear seat upright/x-member
in any case, i'm going to have to chop the end of the upright/x-member out anyway i think for access all down that side.
the sills were done years ago now by a local 'bodyshop'. this little end-of-sill piece you can see here..... i can only describe that i 'opened' it like you would a door & then proceded to pull bits of seam sealer/bathroom sealer out
anyways, more importantly!!!! is the following the right way for how this section should be??
thanking you
this is starting to look like a full restro Leekeep up the good work
ForgotThink the inner sills go up to the cross member at the fron of the back seat .And also some pics that might help ya on your way well i was going to put some pics up but the i cant use the uploader never mind .
Yes lee the repairs stop at the xmember, i had to hack mine out when i did mine as i had some rot in that seam and the sill closing panel underneath. Your pic may be right for a mk1 i dunno, on my mk2 the sill closing panel came above the floor level about an inch and was spotted to the lower bit of the inner 1/4
Nice work on the rails though mate
cheers phil via hotmail??
thanks dave i'm just presuming that rear sill closing bit underneath isn't a product of that fantastic 'bodyshop' aswell i don't think it is as it looks 90* at the top & i'm guessing spotted to the floor piece without a tube of sealer.....
anyway, i'll get it sorted one way or another just i always like to ask instead of just rushing in there as there's sometimes a much better, easier & neater way of doing things.
If your being a right bufty im sure its listed on the expressed site...might even help to work it out?
Infact here it is i was right, e1f 9, 10

just had a thought we been here before
http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthre...71-testing-LEE
what's that bit & what's the hole for phil??
I don't know what the hole is for but i do know none of mine ever got one.
Top work there Lee, looking good. That section is always pretty baffling, it takes a bit of working out how everything goes. I just make it up as I go and don't worry too much about how it is supposed to be. Closing the sill off takes some thinking about too. Make sure you have drain holes in the bottom or it will fill up with water.
Comming along well you are doing a cracking job
That be the sill closer by the back arch ,so where the inner sill finishes at the cross member where the back seat starts ,the floor under the back seat slopes up so this funny bit with the hole in goes from the corner of the floor to the lip of the outer sill .If you cut a bit of card out to the measurement on the testing thread you will find it fits nice. The hole i have put in is for thr rubber grommet as this was how the orignal was and im being fussy and want it back how it should be.
HOPE THE PICS COME UP
