Coffee break
Right, this is how it is at the moment
Got to pack up soon as we got no kids & the missus wants to go out for a meal
I'm a bit stuck as what to do with the front sill area The floor is sitting a lot closer to the chassis now & I'm happier about that & the start of the upturn at the front/bulkhead is pretty much in the right place.
There is a gap between the floor & the underside of the outer sill - about 8-10mm. I was thinking of pressing/bending/battering a deeper drainage channel in along that edge. I know this will make it short but I need to add to it there as it doesn't come far enough up anyway for some inner sill grot that was there. The white line [new floor] is where the sill/floor meet vertically on the underside.
Excuse the questions, this is the first time I've done a job this big All previous work has been straight forward plates
Dave, note I also removed the seat x-member instead of working around it

A bit hard to see from the pics, but either weld a strip in to bridge the gap, or gently push (bash) the sill up to meet.
I really think that whatever you think is best, is the right thing to do. Sounds a bit daft, but you are the one doing it, so it's upto you to do what you are happy with. (that sounds even dafter
Oh, and well done too, looks very neat so far.
Lee have you checked its not just that the sill bottom has sprung out? get some clamps on the go when you have it welded in to the chassis rails and then decide whether to batter it or cut it and reweld it wider out etc
to much thinking not anof cutting and welding going on
got a bit of time in the morning ill pop over give you a few hammer blows in the right direction buddy.
Looking good lee
Told you that x member would be easy to remove
Cheers all for the comments/advice
Trig See you in a bit
Matt, I had to take it out Imagine what I would've got from you lot if I didn't Glad I did though even if it was a bit of a pain
Current state of play
getting there lee,looking good m8
Well, the hole got bigger
Just finished cutting & shaping all the stupid plates & tacking them in place on the floorpan Going to drill for the chassis spot welds & weld all the tack welds up & then shower & go up the club for a few beers I think
Looks like I'm going to be riding the pushbike to work on Tuesday
Good work lee, but its all too technical for me! Like the dimensions on the plates and tipex everywhere i just weld a bit and bash a bit
As Dangerous says, that has got to be the most technical approach I have ever seen, and neatest too.
Fair play to you Ratters, looks like you are doing a proper top notch job there.
Agree totally with Mr Roberts, its good to see that Shitty Hadrian panels can be made to fit really well with some time and patience
Real men do it Sideways
Have to agree with everyones comments that does look like a top precission job, well done

Wana come do mine - nice work
Looking good mate hope are chat gave you a bit of help.
The pic you sent me on your phone wouldnt download.
inner outer sills next year buddy.
cracking job lee,flash bugger
Ah just seen the bit with d on at the back which will be under the seat crossmember, is the d to mean it needs to be bashed down? As its a drainage channel thing so you need to extend the one in the panel to meet the existing, you should be able to whack it nicely if you get enough heat in it by welding either side of it
Cheers for the comments. I was most worried about cutting too much out
Big big thanks goes out to you lot Pretty much all I know is what I have learnt/seen on your projects/resto's I spent Thurs/Fri evening going back through old threads
Done DD
Trig, cheers for popping round & yes mate, next year ... either that or it goes.....
Weather seems to be nice all this week so I might leave it off the road, ride the ole pushbike to work & get as much more done as I can

Thanks guys/girl
Very true Clint, years of just driving it about & not looking after it properly
Well today progress has been pretty good. I'm a happy bunny
Quick question though....... What goes on first, seam sealer or paint? & which one's should I use?
Looks good mate!!
I use the 3m brush on stuff that comes in a tin, most auto factors should have it, looks like original stuff aswell
scott
Lee, paint it all with anti rust primer, then seam sealer, then another few coats of primer, then top coat
Real men do it Sideways
Top job there Lee,keep up the good work

Looking good ,very precise work all ways better to measure twice and cut once lol .I am glad me pans are all solid its enough for me just stripping the paint off lol .Top job.
Hows it going bud all painted back on the road by now.
Well I spent most of Monday welding the extended floor pan in, a plate above the jacking point & another i found near the rear harness mount
Then last night I tidied it up a bit, welded underneath floor/outer sill, Trig popped round with a few bits & pieces [cheers ] I got the seat crossmember back in & poisoned, etch primed, & seam sealed
Tonight I had a sweep up from under the car while it was up on stands
& painted
Was out fitting the seat & alloy checkerplate as it was getting dark cus I wanna rag the fook out of it tomorrow
