I'd grab it, M8 had one in his capri, it stayed locked away on rainy days as it kept doing 360's
On dry days it went like a rocket and ate gearboxes for lunch
its not the same as the pinto you have got at the mo, i think the yank pinto is longer wider and taller it also runs a 4 bearing camshaft, some time with a tape will tell you what you need to no it may save you some time and money hope this helps
Quite a few sites in the US about it, do a search for merkur XR4i (sp?) or mustang or LIMA engine.
They are longer than the pinto but i've seen one in an escort so it should go in the corty easyer ?
I might just have to buy it then. Will it be the only MK3 Cortina turbo?
Seen a few turbo Mk3's but not using this engine
I aint seen any classics in the UK using this engine that’s why im unsure if it’s a good buy or not
Its bigger and heavier and probably a bit harder to get parts for than a pinto or YB thats more than likely the reason its rare over here.
Thats a very nice engine with loads of tuning potential. i know a mate with the EFI Turbo version on an Automatic tranny; in a MK 1 Cortina. Its a little (unsuspecting) monster!!
Look on Esslinger Racing website for lots of tuning parts.

Kevin
I picked up the 2.3 turbo engine, 5 speed Bog Warner box and wiring loom at the weekend
Let the conversion commence
loads of tuning stuff in the us and they make serious power
Sounds like this is going to be an awesome project Best of luck to you and now the show season is over...get on with it
Be prepared for loads of questions on turbo's and injectors, as im more of a carb's and cam's man myself
Here is the beast that is the 2.3 turbo injection
might beat you to it check out www.freewebs.com/kiwihodge got a few links there too.
first thing i'd do is look into putting an intercooler on that, interested to see how it progresses
