Hi, am looking at retrofitting a rev counter on my pinto, I need to use either cortina or Granada clocks
does anybody know if there is any difference between 4 cylinder clocks and v6?
is it modifiable with resistors?

If the tacho's take their trigger from the coil neg. there shouldn't be a difference - one pulse / revolution. If the feed is from a ecu it could be 1, 2 or 3 pulses. Safer to stay away from a 6 cylinder derived tacho for a 4 cylinder engine methinks.
Until you have the clocks and open them up, no way to know.
One set of granada clocks I used had a little trim pot on the circuit board itself, so a little twiddle of this and it worked fine going from 6cyl to 8cyl.
Or I've pulled the wiring to the coil on the needle before and stuck a little pot on this to reduce the reading. Doubt you could increase it though.
Or there are various pulse adjusters around for not much money that should allow you to use almost any type

no, it will not work correctly.
4 pulses per revolution against 6 pulses per revolution.

It would be fed direct from the coil not a ecu, but sounds like it could be a bit of a problem. Would be almost luxury with one lol, might have to give it a go if they come up cheap though
But easily fixed.
