    Re: new project 1955 100e

geat project m8, I can't belive the condition of the shell it looks fantastic, I had to replace the bottom 6" of mine including the rear chassis legs!!
great find in that condition, A honda S2000 motor would beb the engine of choice.
    keep the updates coming m8.
The pre 58 Anglia delux which ours are is a very rare car, the chrome grill and full length dash make the car compared to 100E pops IMO.

    Re: new project 1955 100e

engine and box now out and sold 8-) rest of the running gear will be romoved this weekend . just picked up a donor vehicle another 100e that was fitted with a pinto and escort suspension and a 105e rear axle the pinto has to go back to the previous owner but the rest of the rolling stock will be used as a base for the running gear in the project .

    engine and box removed :

the donor car which as it turns out is actaully alot better than expected and will be going to a friend to be turned into a project of its own ;D 8-) :

    105e rear axel:

    Re: new project 1955 100e

07/10/07bit more done today stripped off the rest of the suspension today and the wife made a start on paint stripping the floor

took off the drivers side front wing I noticed the the inner wing had had a thick coat of underseal painted on it and thought it may be hiding some horrors but after I started stripping it off it actually very good underneath with no hidden nasties just nice clean metal underneath I have decided to strip all of the under seal off and paint under the car as it is straight enough .

    Re: new project 1955 100e

    this weekends progress
picked up the rest of the wheels off a mate 3 workshops down

made up the mounts for a modified escort cross member I did have one on the white 100e that I stripped but found that the mounting was different on that one to what I needed so ended up starting again with another cross member

cleaned the engine up and made a start on mounting it in the car gearbox tunnel is now welded in found that with the engine mounted back as far as it is there is plenty of room in the engine bay for rad intercooer ect but the seats will need to be mounted about 9-10" back or the gear stick is going to be behind the seats didn't want passengers in the back anyway

finished up this evening pulling the head off to make it easier to get to fabricate the engine mounts and was happy to find the internals to the engine in good order so not to much work needed there

There is a thread somewhere showing one of these after Gary has bubbled it - looks a real weapon. Good project and nice to see.

Do you prefer Jap turbo purely for the cost? YB not a consideration?

Hope Gary or another mod can find those pics now sweeeeet

    Re: new project 1955 100e

I bought a black 1960 popular a couple of years ago and stored it away until yesterday. Last weekend i sold my 1500GT 105e to consentrate on my spaceframe Duratec Anglia. However thats now gone away for some fabrication work and i need something to play with so on Saturday i got the 100E out for the first time in over a year. With in 1/2 hour i had it running and drove it into my garage ready to play.Althuogh the paint is dull the metalwork is very sound indeed and the car is very straight with an immaculate red interior. It seems much better than i thought it would be as i only paid £600 for it.I have got a 105E axle for it and i intend to put an escort front set up with 2.0 pinto and 5 speed just for a bit of fun until the Duratec 105E is done.

    Re: new project 1955 100e

this weekends work mainly engine stuff but a little more of the interior stripped and started reforming the inner wings
    boot floor:

started on the inner wings :

and rebuilt the engine or at least the bottom end not all good news on the engine front bottom end is in very good condition just a new set of shells needed and a bit of a clean up and it was ready for paint but the head is in need of some pretty serious work 3 exhaust valves are cracked and the vavle guids are shot so a fair bit of work will be needed there also the the turbo after giving it a cleanup I found it has a lot of play in the barings so it looks like an upgrade will be needed there then ;D
