    24v cosworth non starter

Ok- bought a Sierra with a BOA with BOB cams in. Put fuel in and a battery on, turns over and has comperssion, but the fuel pump runs continuosly with the key in position 2, and I can hear fuel swoosing through the fuel rail, but it won't fire up. It coughs and runs for a second or two on a squirt of easy-start though. If i clamp a fuel pipe the pump builds up pressure and clicks off. Any ideas?

Sounds like it isnt fueling then. Im struggling to get fuel running through the rail at all, so you've got one up on me!

Is the ECU controlling the fuel pump, or is it just hard wired to the ignition feed? Because the ECU SHOULD run the pump for about 10 seconds on pos.2, then cut if the engine isnt turning, IIRC.

Have you checked to see if the injectors are actually firing?

The wiring loom and ECU is is pretty well bodged in, I just want to make sure it runs in situ before I remove the engine to strip it. As it's in a xr4i shell I'd imagine the pump is hard wired, but i'm sure it wouldn't click off like it does if it was. I'll break out the noid lights to test the injectors tommorrow. Ta!

Found out why it won't run - possibly due to the ECU being full of water at some point and most of the PCB turning to green dust. Also found 12v at the injectors! Megasquirt it is then!

    [Dr Frankenstein]It's aliveeee, It's ALIVEEEEEEE! [/Dr Frankestein]
Blasted the ECU out with cold start, which was the most vicious solvent I had to hand, repaired yet another wire -whoever cut and shut the loom loves those household block connectors, and it fired up and ran, in a manner of speaking!
Ok, so it was pretty rough but sounded good mechanically. Hooray!

What was up then? I've become fairly well aquainted with the looms and why they won't go!
