    Vulcan 1700cc Xflow

    brief spec:
    Vulcan full race head
    accralites, 11.7:1 compression
    244 cam
twin 45's but with 34mm chokes
    megajolt 2D ignition
not yet fully run in (only done 150miles)

Torque was more than I thought 129lbft@, peak power 141bhp@6200rpm at flywheel was slightly less but I think more will come if I switch to 36mm chokes and the engine is bedded in properly, what do you think? I really want to hit the magic 150bhp mark!

Thanks to Steve@Vulcan for building a mega engine and the two Steves@Track n Road (T'n'R) for working their magic on it.

And my claim to fame is to be the first to get the 'megash1t' engine management (T'n'R terms!) to their rollers!

looks good that, just got myself a 1700 but i doubt its near your spec, i think 110 would be nice for me

i know the steves wernt too impressed when i mentioned that i wanted to put megajolt on my engine at the last RR day. good that you got them to use it though, did they change their minds about it being sh1t?

ha, they stil think its shite, just not really shite. Mine seems to be doing an excellent job now. Before I got to the dyno I couldn't get my TPS to work, for some reason it worked when the engine was off but only worked intermittently when it was on. So I resigned myself to 2D ignition.

In retrospect I think this is the way ahead for megajolt. It is much simpler, more reliable and far easier to map. From the rollling road session it appears that a full 3D megajolt map would be very time consuming, it is a cumbersome system to live map. It is so time consuming that I reckon you would be better off with an Emerald or MBE system and save a few hundred quid on the dyno.

i guess they are right in a way, if it takes much longer to set up properly on the rollers in full 3d mapping, a couple of hundred quids worth of ecu is made back at your first visit. but if their only major complaint is its a bit slow to map, its not that bad

i guess i'll just have to learn to map it myself and just put up with the inevitable slating at the next RR day we do there again

Well 9 years on it went back on the same rollers yesterday and gave a very surprising result. It has done an estimated 10,000 fast road miles with an oil change every 1500 miles. 157bhp and 137lbft.
