    Cologne piston and ring sizes.

Sorry first of all for any layman terms, this is the first engine I've actually stripped to nothing. (Done some work on a pinto but nothing too major)

Upon stripping I have found issues with on of the bores, Some very bad pitting. Possible due to corrosion.

Having used a bore gauge to determine the rough size of the bores is 93.15mm with the adversely affected area touching 93.35-93.40mm I am looking to get away with standard piston but larger rings to compensate after a re-bore to 93.525mm. (As per Haynes manual)

Question is, is 0.25mm on either side of the piston too much of a gap? I mean they sell 93.5mm piston ring sets for 93mm pistons so I can only imagine it would be? If it is that's great as I wouldn't like to spend £500 on a set of new 94mm pistons.

Any help would be great. (Graham) 😂

if you rebore you will need need new bigger pistons,

if its only one cylinder you could get away with having a liner fitted and reusing your old pistons with new rings

    Cologne piston and ring sizes.

So why do they make 93.5mm rings for 93mm pistons?

93.5 will be for oversize pistons
