1500 pre crossflow head questions
OK guys I've got a new old stock ford 1500 pre crossflow cylinder head still in the box (not GT). It's marked up as a low compression version (L).
Anybody know what the difference between the low and High compression (H) cylinder head.
Also I'm trying to get some valves for it. Now looking in my Cortina book it shows a standard 1500 inlet valve is bigger than the GT valve. Can this be correct? Anybody be able to give me a definite answer I would be very grateful. Thanks Paul

Re: 1500 pre crossflow head questions
According to Tuning four cylinder Fords book by Paul Davies the valve sizes are 1.43 inlet, 1.18 exhaust for std 1500 pre X flow and 1.410 in, 1.245 ex for the 1500 Gt engine. The same valves are fitted to the 1300 pre x flow as the std 1500 five bearing crank engines. The smaller capacity 3 bearing engines were fitted with 1.27 in and 1.18 ex valves.
