Ford escort mk1 opening rear quarters

Hi all can anyone tell me any information about these? I have a set of hinges latches and seals but no glass. Am I right in thinking it's the same as standard non opening ? I don't want to cut my old ones until I know they will fit.

If i remember correctly, the glasses should have a hole in them towards the rear that the hinge latches bolts through. And the forward edge where the hinges mount, should have a C-profile trim that goes vertically along the glass edge. Last time i looked at a set was about 10 years ago though...

No hole for catch fitting. It's bonded to the glass

Glass is different, but how different I can't remember.

Do all shells have the fittings in them for opening glass? Reason I ask is that mine definitely has the rivet/screw 'nubs' for the hinge mechanism, but I can't remember seeing anything around the front edge. How do the front mounts attach to the frame?

My mk1 had two vertical slots cut in the front section of the frame, the hinges pivoted from there.

Now that you've mentioned it, I've had to go back and have a look through some really early photos of mine to check, and they're there:

Oh yea, I see what you mean. Just looked at some photo's of mine and definitely nothing like that on it, it's a 69 on an "H"

What we could rrarlly do. With is somome who has them measuring the glass to see if it is in fact any bigger

I think i still have the glass somewhere in the shop, i'll se if i can find them tomorrow and take some measurements.

If the rear quarters are tempered glass, it is near impossible to cut without the glass shattering. Laminated glass, like the windshield can be cut or ground without shattering. Tempered glass can be un-tempered, but it is difficult to find someone who can do this.

it's just flat isn't?? shouldn't be that difficult to make some new.
