Any more opinions on the Elite IL300?
They have an Evo2 version out now.
Looks good value.
Im in talks with Tractive also, my concern being the mods required to my escort tunnel to fit it, the added expense and that the Elite box fits a type 9 bell housing and gear box mounts.
In other words "just drops in".

if you can stretch to a Tractive then its the puppy to have, local guy had one in his mk1 with a 2.4JRE xe motor, he is a quick driver and hard on the car, 27 rallies with regular oil changes and its never played up, went to tractive for a service and was told its fine just needed new seals and gaskets to be on safe side!
Cool.
I spoke to Barry McKenna on Ireland.
He says Tractive or Sadev.
I'm concerned about the fitting of the Tractive inky my mk1 without altering the tunnel.
That said, if it's a question of doing it once and for all, who cares?

I'm 99% going Sadev

If you want easy to fit, get a Sadev. They're lovely things, light, fast shifting (odds and evens) and *very* reliable. If you want interchangeable drop gears, easy servicing and can live with the price and tunnel mods, get a tractive.
I've never used an Elite, but have used the Quaife G60 - possibly the worst engineered, most inefficient gearbox I've ever seen. Standard Quaife really.
Being able to change to drop gears really is cool.
There is 1% of me holding the tunnel cutting equipment at the ready.

Changing drop gears is nice, but £5k buys a few diffs!
I'm looking at the 5 speed Tractive.
With the gear indicator led display, loom, type 9 style adaptor to bell housing plate and gear stick it's £7400 delivered to my door.
Another £800 gets me the 6 speed, but I'm not sure I need 6 gears especially as I plan on a bigger capacity and larger engine in due course.

I didn't realise the Tractive had come down that much! In that case I'd be really torn - the Tractive is a great piece of kit, massively strong, very easy to service and a big range of gears and drop gears. The Sadev is a little lighter, cheaper and easier to fit, but you're pretty much stuck with whatever ratios you order.
If you do go for the Sadev, don't buy their gear indicator - it's not great, and very expensive.
Thats a great price Richard, get the tractive then all day long. Even with the Sadev, my mate had to mod the top of his tunnel to clear the rod mechanisms
i would go for the tractive all day long at that price,5 speed and a spare set of drop ratios will cover almost all your gearing options
Carl Nelson @ Tractive.
9000 euros which at current rate is £7480 approx.

I'm looking at the 6 speed Tractive now as it will suit my 2.0 warrior better.

Theres a 6speed on BRF Richard
Do you need a new prop as well?
Yes!
Looking at Sadev again though. Lol

Today I have mainly been ordering Sadev

bit of a thread revival again here guys.
any recent opinions on the elite il300 boxes.
the drop gear option is tempting me.
if any having a elite il200 5 speed fore sale let me know ( one pies or broken)
If you get a good one you get a good one, if you get a bad one you get a bad on I think buddy. A friend of mine has had issue after issue but hopefully it's now finally sorted
I speak as a I find.
I have not had a sequential Elite,
But I have had a ZF historic. The service was great but the gearbox less so.
When I went sequential I looked into it extensively and did my homework.
Basically, I would avoid Elite. It's to uncertain what the product will be like.
If you want a very nice gearbox for similar money then by a Sadev, like I did. Brilliant gearbox.
If you want the drop gear option, you need to spend more and buy a tractive like I very nearly did. I do wish I had had the extra money at the time as the drop gear option is really nice. However weak pound sterling will now make that box even more expensive.
I don't regret the Sadev one bit and of course the poor sterling effects the sale price of this box also.
The Sadev is a fabulous box.

Thanks guys. All food for thought.
Another thread revival here guys, has anyone any experience with the DJM gearboxes? In particular the DB400 as used in Colin McRae Mk2! Similar in price to the Tractive, and on paper seem a very smart piece of kit.
