Mk1 escort door locks wanted

Hi there I am new on this forum and bought a project 1973 ford escort and am looking for some door locks for it and was looking for some guidance to find some

You can also pick up sets of new Solex locks pretty cheaply - about £50 a set. Most of the suppliers are based on Asia, but they pop up on Ebay quite regularly. The only modification needed to fit them is to file out the standard hole a little bit:







The only thing I haven't been able to find is a modern boot lock replacement. I ended up fitting a Cortina or Capri one instead of my old 'lolly pop stick accessible' original one. Again, it was slightly bigger than the mk1 lock, so needed the hole filing out a small amount:







That's original mk1 left, and the new old stock Cortina (I'm fairly sure that's what it is - the same part is here: http://www.newpartsonline.co.uk/inde...uct_id=2022335) on on the right.

Oh, and if you do go for the Cortina boot lock, you will need the original Escort barrel, even if the lock is worn out - the cam on the end is different, so you'll need to transfer them over. Not sure what option you have if you don't have an original lock at all. It's probably a case of trying to find one... and they're a fortune, just like door locks, when they do come up.
