Rough idle after ballast removal xflow

So I cut the ballast resistor from my xflow loom

the car was running 9v and has a 9v coil

When I switched the car back on it was back firing very hard to rev and rough idle?

did I do something wrong in the loom

or is it just the fact the coil is fecked now along with the points

i thought it would run fine for a while but was rough after the removal of ballast wire ,

i just want want to make sure before I remove the old 1300xflow for my new 1600 xflow with electronic ignition

    thanks

the extra voltage by cutting out the ballast will give the ignition system a much harder time, particularly the points but i would expect it to cause what you describe
