Type 9 Gearbox Cross Member Mounting

    Hi Everyone,

I am now at the stage of mounting my type 9 gearbox crossmember, the plan being to bolt it through the floor.

I have a sierra crossmember, however it looks like I need to make a lowering block of around 30mm to get clearance between bottom of the gearstick housing and body. Has anyone had to do this before?

    Many thanks,

    Jamie

Yes they sell gearbox lowering blocks as its a common problem.

yep, when i did this i used a capri cross member and bolted through the floor. I had to make up some spacers, luckily and old sunbed stand provided some useful rectangular section steel for the job. you could probably buy some alloy pieces of ebay that would do the job.

Champion, thanks for the info. I have bought some aluminium flat on ebay for £10.00 which should do nicely.

I love the fact you used that off a sunbed haha!
