    MK2 seat base/runners options.

Hi - my mk2 Escort came with a pair of ropey Recaro-style seats, mounted on seat rails like these:

I have recently bought a pair of Ghia seats and the rails fit to them fine.
However, the mounting holes in the floorpan do not appear correct - they appear drilled rather than tapped, plus they are 4-5cm too far apart widthways.

There are a pair of rear holes with captive nuts, but they don't line up with the rails I have.

Is there another base option for the mk2?
It's like there should be a different frame that bolts to the floor and crossmember, that the seats or runners should bolt to..

    Thanks - Simon

If using those 'std' runners with Recaro seats they end up in a different place on the floor pan. The RS models with those seats came with an additional bracket that lifted, re-angled the seat and allowed the std. mount holes to be used........and they are rare as most things with RS in title!

These are very standard runners - they just don't line up with the holes in the floor pan, in order to give 344mm between bolt holes, that the seats need to fit on.

The outer rail, when bolted to the floor , leaves the drivers seat too close to the door pillar - the backrest adjuster touches the B-pillar.
    Car is a 4-door.

    Sorted now.

The front box section had been strengthened and re-tapped to allow the rails to be fitted wider apart, in order to fit the non-standard seats.
I've re-added mounts where the original should have been in the box section.
The rear mounts now align with the original tapped inserts.
