standard escort rs2000 was 110bhp so you should be well over 120, like i said assuming a decent exhaust

I'f you did not ordered the camshaft yet,I would go for FR30 or Piper BP134. These cams are faster as the FR32 and have a lot less lift at TDC. This way the engine will idle as standard and will make more power as well (modern profile). On paper you should think FR32 is faster but is from an older generation camshafts.

Same for the carb, I would use standard DGAV 32/36, not 38 DGAS. Again torque and driving is a lot better and same max power. I've don the test on my dyno long time ago, will try to find the graphs back. I was using small bore Ashley. Had +/- 130 Bhp but was overbored and I think small head work.

my engine was from a mk3 cortina, i dont know if it have the same bhp as the rs2000, Choosing the cam is difficult... i never will rev it to 6k, just 5k max! im thinking on fr30 or fr32

mk3 cortina was rated at 98bhp or there abouts, the only difference with RS2000 was the RS had a far better exhaust manifold and bigger bore exhaust.

FR30 cam it wil give grunt right through the rev range and will work without jacking up the compression

maybe i'll do some smal headwork and do something in the block, i don't want to touch a lot the engine, because is was std in good running condition, and here in uruguay is very rare, only 6 escortrs with this engine, inc mine...

Piper BP134 (I' always used this one in the last few years) or Kent FR30 are the right cams for you and no other camshaft will even come close. All other have more duration, less lift and the actual valve opening area is far bigger with this BP134 / FR30 compared to any other cam. Need to inform, it is NOT a "slow" camshaft when it comes to open en closing ramps. You need stronger (single) valve springs.

Don't use the 38 DGAS, there are only drawbacks, I've tested and standard carb was best torque and best power and much much better in light load situations. The 38 DGAS is a stone ages story and will never out perform the 32/36 DGAV on a road engine.

Whatever cam you use, the 32/36 progressive carb is the one you need on the road and but the only right cam is BP134 or FR30 (both old ERSON 134 profiles, slightly reworked). Forget about the rest for a road engine. I use approx the same kind of profiles in other makes and whatever engine I had, always working perfect when only one carb must feed 4 or 6 cylinders.

one friend told me " buy the piper 285" because i want a twin 45, and this cam works very well with twin webers, i will have some work in the head, and good exhaust, i should the 285 is better than fr32? maybe hottest?
