Focus st170 vvt

Iam after some info on focus st170 vvt i have a vvtpro vvt controller as iam running microsquirt for fuel and ignition . the problem i have it the vvt will not hold the desired position . ie if i want 30 advance the vvtpro will flick between 15 to 40 15 40 15 40 causing the engine to serge when driving after 4000 it seems to settle down. iam thinking of just fixing it in one place vvt delete whats best advance to fix it at . any help on ether problem will be good . thanks

These songs a good thread on here about st170 valve timing and it seems fixing it is a bad answer as you loose power. Have you considered you have s defective controller ?
