I've finally gotten around to fitting the bonnet and am now testing the bonnet release - I fitted a new cable and handle, one of the solid core cable types. I've found that it needs a lot of leverage to release the bonnet catch, so much so that the looped section that fits over the clevis pin on the bonnet handle has started to unwind itself!

The cable itself moves freely when the bonnet catch isn't closed, so it's not as if the cable is binding on the outer sheath.

Has anyone else found trouble with these modern replacement cables? I could swear that the original braided type cable didn't have an issue.
