Bosch 90 amp Alternator Wiring
Ahh wiring the Bain of my life!😭 This may have been covered in the past so sorry if I'm covering old ground. I've just fitted a Bosch 90 amp alternator to my mk2 rs2000 and where it originally had a Lucas three pin connector it now has three stud connections and I'm unsure which order it attaches in?? I had assumed that the two larger red wires would connect to the larger stud then the signal wire to the dash would go on one of the other terminals. although when the engine was running the charge light never went out, any assistance would be much appreciated
cheers

Re: Bosch 90 amp Alternator Wiring
The two bigger (red) wires from the old Lucas go to the B+ terminal (it is marked B+ on the housing).
The smaller wire to the dash connects to the D+ terminal of the Bosch; the W-terminal is not used.
As the 90 Amp Bosch needs more initial current to get going you need to rev it harder before the light goes out.

Re: Bosch 90 amp Alternator Wiring
I thought that if you connected a switched live to the W post, it would energize the coils so not having to rev the granny out of it to kick it into life?

Re: Bosch 90 amp Alternator Wiring
That's not what the W-terminal is for, but yes if you do that it will energize the field-coil more.

Re: Bosch 90 amp Alternator Wiring
Thanks for that, it's what I thought but was unsure I will just check that the signal wire is going to the d+
The fact that is was the first time the engine had been started after a complete rebuild and that I didn't rev it above 3 max was probably why the light remained on then
