use the longest trumpets you can.

mesh filters are rubbish, dont bother with trumpets with a full or big radius, a simple 90 flare works best

Thats good power at 6000rpm, have you tried any cam timing changes? what cam are you using?

    Hi,
yes but there is every mall range (+/- 1 degree) due to big valves. I'm using RL31 kit.

Two more questions (beside earlier for type o trumpets to be used and diameter of exhaust after Ashley 2,5"):
    - more progress to be expected when decreasing length of trumpets on carbs or length of inlet manifold ? (I want to gain some room / space between carbs and body to improve air flow)

    - How high would you rev such pinto ? (standard, balanced bottom). I’ve set the Omex limiter now for 7.000 (which in reality cuts down the revs after 6.500-6.800)

If your using wide beam injection rods and the engine is healthy, 7500 for short burst will be fine. But looking at your power graph I wouldnt say there’s much point in raising your rev limit unless you use bigger chokes and go after some more power at the top end. But in a rally car, I’d say your power / torque is looking quite good. A rev limit at 7200 would be safe

dont shorten the inlet it will hurt power, you dont actually need much space between the trumpets and inner wings

ok so I guess i could play with the trumpets altough they are not that crucial (I have ones pretty much as Graham described). What about the exhaust diameter ? Ashley 4-2-1 ending with 2,5". What should be the rest of it? now I have 2,25" and don't want to spent mony replacing all if its not the potential problem. Another thing - do you use programmable ignition / distributors ? the guy on dyno suggested it would be convinient to set up / delay sparc differentrly for different revs.... any expirience with those? my current AFR is 12.2-12.4

at your power level i dont think you need 2.5 inch exhaust, i cant see it being worth more than maybe one or two horsepower right at the very top if any gain at all. in my experience 2.25 wont start restricting it until you get over 220bhp, ive seen 200bhp on a 2"

Mappable igntion works well but if i was going to the trouble of fitting a crank trigger etc, id go to throttle bodies, whats your AFR at the top end? id have expected it to lean out slightly with carbs, i get around 12.5 - 13.4 at max revs.

Haven't looked at it fully but the one piece I took out of the box looked nice.

Best I pull my finger out and get on with the other things I need to do before my first track day in June
So, as typical, I'm way behind the cue ball and ended up using my Fiesta ST for my first track day

Anyway, I had finished some things on my engine and it's pretty much ready to go back into the car so I thought I'd take a look at the exhaust...................

    Cheers
